The Government, local authorities,
housing association, broadcasters and industry bodies all want digital switch
over to progress smoothly with minimal disruption to the general public
and commercial interests. In an industry that has had to adapt rapidly to
new technology and installation practices there is a genuine need for qualified
and licensed engineers.
The RDI has been set up to assist in the up skilling and registration of
the UK’s best engineers and help promote them to the general public.
DSO has started and many more installers are needed. Whether you specialise in domestic installations or large communal systems, demand for those who are qualified and registered with us is proving to be high. Beyond ’switch over’ those who have become qualified and licensed will be best placed to pick up on new and emerging technologies within our industry.
Members tell us having an NVQ level 2 (or Level 3 for systems installers) gives them a sense of achievement and pride. Equally being a member of a scheme that only allows qualified installers to participate, is something most members hold in high regard.
By registering with us you will be able to demonstrate to your customers that you are experienced qualified, safe and competent to carry out all types of aerial installation work. Your unique ID number, high profile badge and van logo’s will provide you with tools that say you are amongst the industry’s best practice engineers. Your customers will be reassured that you have had to prove your abilities and have the industries only recognised qualifications.
As a fully licensed installer you
will be able to promote your company as being backed by the Licensing Body
in your local or national advertising. With the Digital Tick having over
90% recognition in UK households, you will also be licensed to use the schemes
certified digital tick mark in line with the scheme rules. In addition permission to reproduce promotional
character Digit-AL can also be licensed.
Promoting your business this way will set you out as a professional and
lend great authority to your business.

All members get to benefit from referrals from the RDI’s website. Your own listing will provide your customer with evidence that you have registered with us and details of your qualifications and other relevant information. We even show the photograph that is on your ID badge.
Training is at the centre of our scheme. In most cases there are grants
available to cover the cost of training where required.
With Government backed initiatives such as Train to Gain, in England,
you or your employer will find that the colleges listed by the RDI will
usually be able to offer NVQ 2 training and assessment free of charge.
Everybody benefits from training and even the most experienced installers
always feed back to us that they have gotten something positive out
of becoming licensed.
